DESAHOGO, the newest album from double Latin Grammy winner Vico C edited by EMI Latin received a rave review in LA Times' prestigious music column Latin Record Rack. The review by Agustin Gurza considers Vico a rap version of salsa legend Hector Lavoe and defines the artist as a "rapper with the agile verbal skills of a street-corner poet, tremendous timing and a big, big heart".
DESAHOGO is a pure musical expression of Vico's views on today's society. The album features an interesting fusion of rhythms "unlike reggaeton, the popular but often monotonous Puerto Rican rap/reggae fusion, Vico C explores a stunning breadth of styles (guajira, reggae, classical, vallenato) and sentiments (outrage, regret, gratitude, love)".
The 13 songs in the album include duets with Gilberto Santa Rosa, Cultura Profetica, Spain's La Mala RodrÃguez & D'Mingo, Ivy Queen and Eddie Dee.
This review confirms the statement that this Vico's best album yet: "Anybody still yearning for the excitement, emotion, musicianship and social message of vintage salsa from the LaVoe era, yearn no more. Vico C has it all". The album hits stores today all across the nation.
