ROCK IN RIO LISBON 2006 WRAPS UP ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EDITION OF ITS WORLD-FAMOUS FESTIVAL

ROCK IN RIO-LISBON closed its 2006 installment with an extremely successful entertainment and musical extravaganza. Over 345,000 people gathered at the City of Rock (Bela Vista Park) to enjoy kinetic performances by a stellar bill of superstar, which included Guns n’ Roses, Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters, Santana, Sting, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shakira, and many others.

The organizers held a press conference during the event to announce that because of the continued success of the Festival they are returning to Lisbon in 2008. The decision is supported by government officials and sponsors.

Rock in Rio-Lisbon was viewed by over 700 million people in 60 countries, and covered by more than 700 journalists from around the world (Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, USA, Latin America, Russia, Estonia, Romania, Angola, Australia and Lebanon).

Rock in Rio was broadcasted in real time by Network Live. The official website of Rock in Rio-Lisbon reached record hits with 2.5 millions pageviews and 65,000 visitors only in the first days of the Festival, resulting in a cumulative total of 5 million pageviews in the month of May. Rock in Rio-Lisbon 2006 drew over two million more hit than the previous edition in 2004.
