ROCK IN RIO LISBON READY TO ROCK WITH ITS SECOND WEEKEND

ROCK IN RIO-LISBON opens its doors to the second musical weekend with Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters, Carlos Santana, Rui Veloso and Jota Quest taking the stage for a spectacular rock concert. The musical extravaganza opened last weekend to an impressive crowd of 140,000 people.

ROCK IN RIO-LISBON, one of the biggest music Festival in the world, is taking place in Lisbon, Portugal, with concerts tomorrow Saturday June 3rd and the closing show on Sunday June 4th with performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sting, Orishas, Anastacia, Da Wiesel and more.

The event is being broadcasted live on multiple media platforms around the globe through Network Live reaching close to 100 million people in 70 countries. A total of 700 journalists from around the world are covering the event coming from Portugal, Spain, Brazil, France, the U.S., and the U.K.

The official website of Rock in Rio-Lisbon reached record hits with 2.5 millions pageviews and 65,000 visitors only in the first days of the Festival, adding it up to a total of 5 million pageviews in the month of May, over two million more than in the previous edition in 2004.

Like its internationally-renowned earlier editions, the second Portuguese-based installment of Rock in Rio sports several stages and playgrounds: World Stage (Main Stage), the Electro Tent (a showcase of DJ's and VJ's), the Hot Stage (concerts by up-and-coming bands), a Kids Space, the Radical Space (with a snow track and snowboard workshops and a slide), and the VIP Tent with haute cuisine catering with all of the trimmings. As with earlier Rock in Rio festivals, the 2006 musical summit is rooting a social message wrapped in the slogan FOR A BETTER WORLD, a message supported by the General Secretary of the UNO, Koffi Annan, and UN representative Eveline Herfkens.
