ROCK IN RIO LISBON
FOO FIGHTERS JOIN ROCK IN RIO LISBON LINE UP
The band steps in for Guns N’ Roses and will play May 30th
Lisbon, April 10, 2004 - FOO FIGHTERS, the brainchild
of former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, has been chosen to headline
on May 30th, 2004, at the most important Festival worldwide ROCK
IN RIO LISBON, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal. This enormously
successful band, which also performed at the last edition of Rock
in Rio, will be joined on the World Stage by Evanescence, Kings
of Leon, Charlie Brown Jr e Xutos & Pontapés.
FOO FIGHTERS fills the vacancy left by Guns n’
Roses cancellation after their guitar player Buckethead announced
his departure from the band.
Although FOO FIGHTERS were on a well-deserved
break, they jumped at the opportunity to play for their Portuguese
fans. This will be their only European appearance for the summer
of 2004, possibly for the remainder of the year, as the band prepares
to return to the studio to record the follow-up to their worldwide
multi-platinum multiple-Grammy-winning ONE BY ONE.
FOO FIGHTERS formed in 1995 and are currently
comprised of Dave Grohl
(vocals, guitar ), Nate Mendel (bass), Taylor
Hawkins (drums) and Chris Shiflett (guitars).
Over the course of four albums--FOO FIGHTERS (1995),
THE COLOUR & THE SHAPE (1997), THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE
(1999) and ONE BY ONE (2002)--the band has earned a reputation
as the premiere American rock n’ roll band of its generation.
FOO FIGHTER's catalogue has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide
and won four Grammy Awards, including two consecutive Best Rock
Album awards for THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE and ONE BY ONE.
This will clearly be a night NOT to miss at the
Rock in Rio Lisbon Festival.
